Nils Emil Lundström for Rörstrand

Unique stoneware lidded jar with dripping gray and brown matte crystalline glaze and two beaver figures to lid, c. 1900-1910.
Height 5 1/2" (14cm) Width 4 1/2" (11.5cm)
Painted "Rorstrand (three crowns)" NEL monogram.

Fun fact: While the Eurasian beaver is native to Sweden, they were hunted to extinction for fur and castoreum in the 1800s. They were, thankfully, re-introduced in the 1920s and are once again plentiful. Interestingly this jar was produced during the short period of time when there were no beavers in Sweden.
