Elisabeth attended the "Nordic Art College" on Wandrahm from 1939 to 1942 , as the State Arts and Crafts School was called from 1936. There she was taught ceramics and she passed a journeyman's examination with Siegfried Möller.  From 1942 to 1943 she attended the sculpture class of Prof. Gorsemann. From 1943 to 1944 she was at the State Academy of Arts in  Stuttgart in the sculpture class of Otto Heim and Fritz von Graevenitz. 

From 1946 to 1955 she had a joint workshop in Bremen with Ingrid Fechner-Ahlers and from 1955 until her death she had her own studio in Bremen. She was a founding member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kunsthandwerk (AKB), which was founded in 1955 in the Focke Museum. The Focke Museum presented in a comprehensive exhibition the works of the members of the new association. She also taught at the Staatliche Kunstschule Bremen.

Elisabeth Pluquets ceramics are remarkable for their clarity of lines and precision of the contours. The matte glazes obtained in reduction firings are characterized by a finely tuned, almost monochrome color . 

She was married to the painter Hans Pluquet. Together with her husband she designed a mosaic of clay tablets for the grammar school at Kurt-Schumacher-Allee. She was involved in equipping the Park Hotel, the main health department and the school on Valckenburgstrasse. She was represented at numerous ceramic exhibitions in Germany and abroad and received many awards.
