Claes Thell
Claes Thell born 1943 in Väsby outside Höganäs.
At the age of 15, Thell started working with ceramics and experimenting with various glazes. After graduating, he worked for three years at Höganäs Metallurgical Laboratory, where he gained a basic knowledge of glaze technology. Then he established his own ceramics workshop in Ödråka.
He has exhibited at the East Asian Museum, the Art Craftsmen in Stockholm, Vejens Kunstmuseum and the Lolland-Falster Art Museum and participated in a number of collections. Together with Henning Nilsson, Yngve Blixt. Brita Mellander-Jungermann and Ann Jansson formed the group of ceramists in Höganäs, which organized joint exhibitions at various locations in the country as well as run their own exhibition hall in Höganäs. His ceramics consist of sculptures, vessels and ornaments with different glazes, of which several items are unique and made in just one copy. He signs his works with Thell. He is represented at, among others, the National Museum in Stockholm. A book about his pottery was published by Christine Hansson and Ronny Rudolf.
